How Do I Meet People?

The following list highlights some of the opportunities we offer for enjoying fellowship with congregation members while providing vital service to our Lord.
Acolytes Youths and adults participate in this ministry by leading the processions and recessions during worship and serving the priest during communion. Altar Guild This important ministry prepares the altar for worship. Responsibilities include maintaining altar linens, vestments, communion vessels, and candles. It’s a great way to learn about the rich history of our Anglican liturgy Bread and Chalice The host that our priest offers during communion is real, home-baked bread. Thus, we have our ministry of bread bakers. Chalice bearers serve the communion wine. Building and Grounds Folks who are handy with a hammer, a mop, or a rake always are in big demand at Holy Family, as we tend to the church building and property entrusted to us. Choir Our choir enriches our 10 o’clock service and special worship services throughout the year by leading the congregation in hymns and performing choir-only anthems. New voices always are welcome

Christian Education With more than half of our congregation under the age of 16, Christian education is “big business” at Holy Family. Volunteers deliver lessons prepared in advance by our director of youth and children’s ministry. Only two primary requirements for volunteers: Love God and love children. We also offer an adult forum session each week.

Hospitality Preparing and providing the refreshments for the coffee hour that follows our 10 o’clock service is a simple ministry that is deeply appreciated. Lay Eucharistic Visitors These lay people are trained and licensed by the Bishop to serve communion to shut-ins and others unable to attend worship services. Outreach As disciples of our Lord, and in fidelity to our baptismal covenant, we are called to reach out to others in Christian service.  Our members, both young and old, engage in a variety of outreach ministries to our neighbors in Hamilton County, Marion County, and beyond. Our primary outreach focus has been support of the food pantry managed by the Delaware Township trustee. Recent additional activities have centered on gathering school supplies for lower-income students in local schools, providing Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas gifts for families in need, providing outreach to two homeless shelters, and supporting a jail/prison ministry.

Meal Ministry Holy Family supports members of the parish by providing homecooked meals or  restaurant gift cards in times of need such as following surgery, in time of illness, or when welcoming a baby to the family.

Media Ministry Spreading the “good news” within the congregation and to the larger community through current technology is the responsibility of this ministry.  See Ben Paden for information. Prayer Shawls Crafters from the congregation gather each month to create handmade prayer shawls for students heading off to college, mothers of new babies, people in the hospital or receiving medical treatments, or anyone who requests one. Readers Also known as lectors, our readers recite the lessons appointed for each worship service and lead the congregation in the prayers of the people. Stewardship Giving thanks to God by returning to Him a portion of the bounty He has provided each of us is the focus of this ministry. This ministry team conducts stewardship education, plans the annual pledge campaign and provides information about planned-giving opportunities. Ushers and Greeters Our ushers and greeters give members of the congregation and visitors a warm welcome and any assistance they need during our worship services.
